Welcome to the Control Systems and Robotics Group at The University of Manchester. We are a growing team of experts dedicated to advancing the field of control systems and robotics by undertaking cutting-edge research and fostering innovation.

Our aim at all times is to make valuable contributions to industry, society and academia through work that has practical value and tackles real-world challenges.

Applications

Current applications include robotics, process industries, communication networks and energy generation.

Collaborative approach

We work in a highly collaborative, cross-disciplinary way with the University’s Department of Computer Science (CS), Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering (MACE) and Department of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science (CEAS).

Facilities and resources

Our group is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories that have dedicated spaces for control systems, robotics, perception and human/robotic interaction research. Our researchers have access to cutting-edge hardware, software, simulation tools and experimental platforms.

Teaching

Our involvement in teaching is significant. Our highly successful MSc in Advanced Control and Systems Engineering (ACSE) has a history of over 54 years and has an annual MSc cohort of between 60 – 70 students.

We have also played a leading role in developing the University’s MSc in Robotics.
